Geishas

Hello everyone, it´s me again. I have to inform everyone i didn't went to my practice class on Friday afternoon so i didn't get to learn a thing of how to control my body and thoughts.
Before that class on Friday, we watch a video of an actress which showed how she learnt to be an actress like she was.
She explained some ways like: acrobatics, segmentation ( moving one part of the body by its own), slow and fast motion, introverted and extroverted action and other kinds of things.
I selected acrobatics because it sounded interesting and was something i wasn't  acostumbrated to do. Even though i didn't had an idea of how to do it i selected it because it sounded like a challenger.
I didn't got to do it but in my opinion this exercise was to feel each part of your body how it moved and control your equilibrium.

After class activities a group of girls and me had to act like Geishas for an school play.
It is the most difficult thing ever! First of all the posture of an Geisha is pretty difficult; your knees have to touch each other while your feet look each other. Your level has to be medium and you butt has to be to the front.
Sounds pretty hard right? well... you have to walk like that! And.. beware of not to separate your knees while you move your shoulders while you walk.
You also learn how to seat and laugh... the most easy thing is laughing hahahah but i dont get it how to seat down.
You have to focus you energy under you belly.

I learnt a lot of things this weekend, and i feel happy about it. But, what do you think about geishas acting? it must have been very difficult to a man to act so girlish and on those positions

"Sin titulo" play

Today, we went to a play named "Sin titulo".
Yuyachkani theatre shows new ways of performing a play.

In this play we went, i saw things i´ve never seen in other plays such as; movement of characters along a room, reading some texts on the characters clothes, the scenery movement and other things. But this were the three ones that made me had  great surprise.

Up to now, im not quite sure how i´m supposed to write a blog but i´m doing my best effort.
Firstly, when you entered the room... it seemed as if you´ve entered a museum. Each panel showed you the story of what happened after the war with chile. The actors were stand up next to a panel in still picture.

The play began when the actors started talking while making eco in each part of the room... it was really creepy but it helped you to hear some words you couldn't hear just by the first time.
After that all the characters where put on top of a table that moved with help and were taken to the centre of the room. Each character was located in a table higher o lower that the other. They were at different levels but by little. All the characters were acting in mute and each one was pretty different.
Lights also did had his time. All the room was dark except the characters.
They played with the lights when they had a character speaking while the oder ones were just being transported from a place to another, also when they focused the flag. The lights were specially used in my opinion to make characters be the focus or to try and select another place of the room with another scene.
The characters were at the most of their time changing their clothes.
They used long dresses, short dresses, etc.
My favorite and most interesting costume was the long dress which had written some words on it and was focused with a flashlight. In my opinion it was very creative but at the same time a little bit difficult to read because of the little light and some small letters from it.

I didnt had any favorite character but i must admit they were really good at acting. I enjoyed the part when two characters put on a mask of judges and start moving funny and expressing everything with their bodys just like they did in commedia dell arte where they had to express everything by their body because they werent able to show their facial expressions.

Music was okay for me, sometimes in my opinion sound like it shouldnt be put for that scene. For example in the first part when ever character is running from one part to another because of the war.... i found it pretty boring. It didnt heard at all as a music for them to run off.
But the other ones where ok.

It wasnt to difficult as i thought it was going to be and i had fun in it.

Breathing and action excercise

In the first class of  the weekend we continued with the breathing exercise. This time it was hardness because we had to make sounds we didn't even knew existed. In my case i had to make the sounds of drops falling to a metal, i couldn't think about a sound with my vocal cords that could make it.
Trying and trying I make it but it was very hard to make a sentence with the sound.
Lastly i was en charged of making the sound of a mother lion and i couldn't make it with my vocal cords.
I kept trying but at the end i found it very hard.
I have to practice in this exercise, because in my opinion this helps me to create new voices for new characters.
Dont you think so?

On the next class we made an excercise work that consisted in balancing the space in different levels, actions or doing different sounds. The hardest excercise was the one i had to transport by the slowest level because it considered doing the most effort,
But, class didnt end there, we had to convine this actions with our friends and stop when someone start making his action. This helped us to coordinate ourselfs and take the idea that me are a team and we have to work together like we do in plays. Because, when you act you depend on the other persons.
And at the end we made the excercise of the chakra and we had to feel it and permit the energy to guide us and transmite us.
It was difficult because i didnt follow the direction of the energy recieved and it was a big problem.

What did this energy helped me to? I mean.. i understand what everything else helped me but this?
Im confused.

Breathing and voice exercise

On friday we went to the school theatre and started our practice.
The practice consisted in doing different excercises with our breathe.
We make the excercise slow, fast, keeping the air inside our lungs, focusing the air inside us in a specific place and those kind of things. After that we started working with the sounds and volumes.

The most difficult part for me was to make the low sounds because it included making some kind of weird gestures on my face. The soft sounds were easier for me than the ones that i had to increase my voice because at first i was feeling nervous.
After the practice my stomach hurt a lot.

I think the voice is one of the most important facts to create a character. What do you think, wouldnt it be difficult to represent a strong and loud character if you dont know how to talk very loud and hard?
